Hailing from North County Dublin, Stephen Kavanagh has been composing for the past nine years. Having finished a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music in Dundalk Institute of Technology under David Stalling, Eibhils Farrell and Ian Wilson. He then entered Trinity College Dublin in 2012, were he obtained an M.Phil in Music Composition under the tutelage of Evangelia Rigaki and Matthew Barnson. He is currently undertaking a PhD in the University of Edinburgh. During this time he has worked with numerous musicians such as, cellist Kate Ellis, pianist and soprano: David Bremmner and Elizabeth Hillgard, and the Fidelio Trio, to name but a few.

Stephen has also composed music for the United Nations as part of their campaign for World Migratory Bird Day 2014, and most recently for their 2015 World Migratory Bird Day campaign ‘Energy-make it Bird Friendly’.  The summer of 2015 also saw the release of the Irish feature film Monged; which made its debut at the Galway Film Fleadh, and featured an original soundtrack scored by Stephen.
